Achieve Your Dreams - Become a Real Estate Agent

Working in real estate is a dream for many people. It offers the possibility of a higher salary to many other jobs and allows you to work the hours that you feel comfortable working in addition to placing you in a position of trust when you are working with clients that can add that extra little bit of pressure that many types of people thrive under.
However, it is not a simple walk in the park to become a real estate agent. There are a number of requirements that you must meet before you can even be considered and even then you will need to acquire a number of different qualifications before you can achieve you licence. Once you do though, the property world is your oyster. Here we look at a few of the key things you need to accomplish before you can enter the world of real estate.
Turn 18 (or 19)
The first thing you have to do is meet the minimum age requirements of the state that you are working in. In the majority of cases this will be age 18, which means you can enter the business as soon as you finish school. However, some states require their agents to be at least 19 years of age so it is important to check which it is for your particular state.
As a side-note, there is nothing stopping you from studying before you reach the minimum age. In fact, that could be advantageous to you as you will be more ready to tackle the qualifications you need to achieve to get your licence.
Be a Legal US Resident
If you're reading this then this is likely something that won't be a problem, however, if you are intending to move to the States to work in real estate you will need to ensure all of your documentation is in order before you go for your qualifications.
Complete Your Education
Every state has different requirements in terms of the number of hours of education that you must undertake before you are eligible to sit the exam you must pass to get you licence.
In a general sense, you will need to undertake a certain amount of classroom teaching, that will usually be somewhere in the 60-100 hours mark, where you will learn the basics of the business in addition to building the foundation that you need to make sure that you can properly serve your clients when the time comes.
As usual, be sure to research the requirements of the state that you are looking to work in to make sure that you don't end up doing more or less than you should be doing.
Pass The Exam
The final step is also the most intimidating. Exams are designed to test how you do in a high-pressure environment, which is perfect preparation for some aspects of the job. Make sure that you do plenty of revision and don't simply rely on the hours of classroom time you have put in.
