How a Black Ex-Cop Joined the KKK and Stopped Multiple Cross Burnings

Going undercover with the Ku Klux Klan in 1979, Ron Stallworth talks about how he infiltrated the KKK and stopped cross burnings in the area.
Stallworth used racist slurs and spoke just like "they" did about blacks and other non-desirable races, but then he had to meet face-to-face, he used a stand-in ---- and they never knew the difference.
“I did the talking on the phone, when they needed a face to face I would send in Chuck posing as me, or as I liked to refer to him as the white Ron Stallworth,” he said. ”They never once picked up on the fact that they were talking to two distinct voices.”
Soon after infiltrating the group, Stallworth began to become privy to the group’s plans, including attempts to burn crosses on residents’ lawns.
Three times, Stallworth said his intel-gathering  stopped cross burnings in his community. ”One of the things I’m most proud of is no black child, no child period ever had to wake up to a burning cross,” Stallworth explained.

Guess they weren't so smart after all..
