Alicia Keys Fired From Blackberry

Alicia Keys with the former chief of BlackBerry, Thorsten Heins, at a promotional event in New York early last year.
At the end of January, Alicia Keys will no longer be the "global creative director" for BlackBerry.
The Canadian company confirmed today that the reason for the separation was BlackBerry's desired to switch from the consumer market to focus on business and government, and large organizations.
"BlackBerry and Alicia Keys have completed our year-long collaboration,'' the company said in an emailed statement. "We have enjoyed the opportunity to work with such an incredibly talented and passionate individual.''
Keys was hired when the company launched its long-delayed BlackBerry 10 devices in January of last year.  This was BlackBerry's final chance to win back the market, which decreased when the iPhone and Google's Androids hit the scene.  Despite their efforts, sales have continued to decline with billions of dollars in losses.
As the "Global Creative Director, Keys contributed to a collaborative project encouraging fans to submit photographs that later appeared in music videos tied to her tour.
