Quincy Jones Suing Michael Jackson Estate

It looks like Quincy Jones wants to get paid whats due to him.

Apparently, Jones is suing Michael Jackson's estate claiming he's owed millions in royalties and production fees from some of Jackson's greatest hits.

The lawsuit filed on a Friday is seeking $10 million from the singer's estate and Sony Music Entertainment.  Jones claims unauthorized use of re-edited songs to deprive him of royalties and production fees owed to him from the original versions.

Among these include music in the film "This Is It" as well as Cirque du Soleil shows based on the King of Pop's songs.

Jones also claims that he did not receive producer's for the music in "This Is It."

Jones' lawsuit is seeking records of the profits from the works so the court can determine how much he is owed.  Jones worked on three of Jackson's most popular solo albums: "Off the Wall," ''Thriller" and "Bad."

Jackson's estate released a statement saying it was saddened by the lawsuit. "To the best of its knowledge, Mr. Jones has been appropriately compensated over approximately 35 years for his work with Michael," the statement said.

Sony Music's New York offices was not available to comment, nor did they return phone calls after messages were left.

I guess you can't knock Quincy Jones for getting what he's entitled to.  I think if more black artists paid closer attention to things like this instead of spending their money, there wouldn't be so many going bankrupt.
