Legendary Jazz Vocalist, Gloria Lynne Dies

Most known for "I Wish You Love," the NYC native passed away from a heart attack Tuesday evening at the age of 83.
Lynne, like most black vocalists, started singing in church and got her big break at the Apollo Theater's Amateur Concert at the age of 15.
She got national attention when she appeared on Harry Belafonte's"Strolling '20's" V Special in 1966.
That same year, Lynne also received the International Women of Jazz Award.  Followed by several other recognitions and awards, including the National Treasure Award from the Seasons Citizens Theater Company in 2003 and induction into the National Black Sports and Entertainment Hall of Fame.
Along with her son Richard Alleyne, Lynne was involved in their production company Family Bread Music Inc.
Our prayers go out to the family!
