Marvin Gaye's Family Turns Down Six Figure Settlement Offer From Robin Thicke in Copyright Infringement Lawsuit [Video]

I know everyone was just like me when they first heard Robin Thicke's new song "Blurred Lines"...  "That's Marvin Gaye's music (Got to Give it Up!)"
Well, I guess the late great Marvin Gaye's family felt the same way because they are suing Thick for copyright infringement.
Subsequently, Thicke, along with co-writers, Pharrell Williams and Clifford Harris, Jr. (T.I.), filed a lawsuit on Aug. 15 in U.S. District Court in Los Angeles requesting a ruling that “Blurred Lines” does not infringe on “Got To Give It Up.”
Gaye’s son, Marvin Gaye III released a statement saying,  “We’re not happy with the way that he went about doing business let alone suing us for something where he clearly got his inspiration from at the least.”
Robin Thicke, basically admits to using Marvin Gaye's song as inspiration, during  a GQ Magazine interview in May regarding the making of  “Blurred Lines.”
"I was like, ‘Damn, we should make something like that, something with that groove.’ Then he started playing a little something and we literally wrote the song in about a half hour and recorded it. The whole thing was done in a couple hours.”
Thicke’s lawsuit said the “intent in producing ‘Blurred Lines’ was to evoke an era. In reality, the Gaye defendants are claiming ownership of an entire genre…. The reality is that the songs themselves are starkly different.”
The fact that Thicke is offering a settlement, makes me wonder...I mean if I'm not guilty of something, I'm not going to offering any type of settlement.
What do you think?
